The grave of Carl von Linné

Under the gravestone rests Carl von Linné, 1707-1778, professor of medicine and botany at Uppsala University. Linné categorized plants and animals, and compiled the system of latin generic / species naming which is used over the whole world today. Linné's wife Sara Elisabeth Morća and their son Carl von Linné the younger are also buried here.

In the chapel next to the Chapel of Remembrance stands a Linné monument executed in porphyry, with a bronze portrait medal by Tobias Sergel.
